Service Description

"Modern" workplaces and workspaces might place barriers on their teams that leadership might not see. The impacts of colonization on our Indigenous team members and their families create opportunities for employers, mentors, and leaders to make their spaces approachable and empowering. Factors that create barriers include hiring practices, policies, workspaces themselves, and simply not knowing from employer's or leadership's end of these types of barriers. Our Indigenous teams are resilient, efficient, and when our workplaces work for them, the sky is the limit for their achievement. Sometimes, leadership simply does not see these barriers that can hinder either retention of Indigenous staff, or the recruitment of these potential team members. By creating a balanced workplace, your organization will become more efficient, more productive, and a friendlier one, but above all, it can be one that is a safe space and valued one from your team. Decolonizing your workplace not only an improvement for specifically your Indigenous team and future team members, but also impacts other members of your team in ways you might not have realized. A partnership to decolonize your space could include a workplace and workplace assessment, consultation and focus groups with your team, and policy and hiring reviews.
